Students working in a classroom at Dharmarama Kanishta Vidyalaya School in Ahangama, Sri Lanka. This school opened November 2006 and is one of 20 schools built through the Schools Re-Awaken project. The Schools Re-Awaken project rebuilt schools destroyed by the Dec. 26, 2004 tsunami. The tsunami killed 30,196 people and displaced 850,201 in Sri Lanka alone. The project is sponsored by District 3220, the Rotary Foundation, Standard Chartered Bank and many other contributors. The land was donated by the local Buddhist temple.
